Bass Guitar and Double Bass lessons are taught at my home in Hadleigh, Suffolk (20 minutes North of Colchester, 12 minutes West of Ipswich)
I can drive to the student location, in this case an extra cost will be added.
The student can choose to bring an instrument or is welcome to use an instrument here if it makes travelling easier.
I have a very flexible schedule, lesson times can usually be arranged to suit the needs of the pupil, please get in touch about availability.
Parents or carers are welcome to sit in during lessons.
£17 for 30 minutes lesson
£30 for 1 Hour lesson
Please note that longer lessons can be arranged, 30-minute lessons are most effective for beginning children but for adults usually 1 hour is recommended, with intermediate to advanced students a 2-hour lesson can easily fly by.
Feel free to inquire about longer lessons.
I will charge a travel cost If I must travel, the amount will vary depending on distance and/or time needed to reach a student.
Depending on the available practice time a lesson every one or two weeks is recommended, I always find lessons to be more enjoyable by the student when some progress was achieved at home, a weekly lesson with very limited practice time can easily become a frustrating experience.
Music/ Jazz Theory (All Instruments)
Jazz Improvisational Concepts (All Instruments)
Double Bass & Bass Guitar Beginner to Advanced Technique
Improvisation and Bass Line construction in the Jazz context
Sight reading, Chord charts and Ear Training
Bass role in a rhythm section
I do not teach classical, nevertheless bow technique is an important part of my Double Bass lessons, I encourage my students to use the bow often on technical exercises and afterword on advanced improvisation.
Styles and Levels
Although a passionate jazz musician I am happy teaching at all levels in many styles.
As a teacher I believe that learning should be fun in order to enjoy this long journey where hard work and focus are fundamental requirements to achieve results, each student is unique therefore I chose not to apply a one size fits all method but prefer to plan a more relevant and personalized learning path to accommodate each student's specific requirements, learning pace and personal goals.
Skype lessons can be arranged.
I offer a first free mini-lesson where we can both try out the connection and setup quality to evaluate if it is conducive to a productive lesson, if we agree it is worth continuing we can look at the arrangements for future lessons.
